| Barney's | Next door, great happy hour, good and cheap breakfast. It's your classic local pub. The staff and service is great. |
| Liberty Bakery | A must for a crossiant and coffee, best enjoyed in the street parkelt. Main & 21st |
| JJ Bean | A Vancouver staple, unfussy, great coffee, in-house baked goods and treats. |
| Federal Store | Cute coffee/bakery shop up 10th avenue @ Quebec st |
| Sing Sing | Decent beer list, unfussy, good snacks, closeby (next to chevron at 12th) |
| 33 Acres Brewing | Very good, nearby, highest quality brewery around. Sit anywhere. Their Italian Spritz is new and worth a try, the Mezcal Gose is the perfect summer beer, and 33A of Sunshine is a classic. Get the popcorn. |
| Faculty Brewing | Underrated, great spot. Get the London Fog |
| Brassneck Brewing | Great and classic brewery. Try the Passive Agressive |
| Please Beverage Co | They make infused seltzers and spirits, etc. Great snack menu, really well done build-out with tasteful high end finishes and proper acoustical treatment. Short walk from Main, close to Jonathan Rogers Park. |
| Dear Gus | Euro wine/snack bar. Tiny spot up the street, very hard to get into but you may be able to pop in. |
| Anh & Chi | Hard to get into, but if you can. |
| Como Taperia | Nearby Library - decent, can be busy, patio is great, stop by Brasssneck after/before for a beer. |
| Tacofino | Nearby. Elevated cocktails, tacos, burritos. Get the diablo cookie. |
| Manna Sushi | Great sushi place nearby Faculty Brewing |
| Earnest Ice Cream | Worth it. Pro tip: get a takeout pint if there is a line up and bring it home. |
| KOBO Ice Cream | New little shop across the street. Simple, unfussy, delightful. |
| Batch Vancouver Pop-Up | Pop-up outdoor beer/cider/wine place in the Plaza of Nations if doing False Creek Seawall. Near the JW/Parq. Live music. Look for the containers and umbrellas. |
| Autostrada (DT) | HAPPY HOUR ONLY - (client) under the granville street bridge in the Vancouver House building with a view of the big chandelier. Get a bar seat, have a couple glasses of rose. Their arancini is a winner. |
| Nook (Olympic Village) | Unfussy, modern italian. Good wine and cocktails, good pizza, pasta, salad, classics. Fair price. |
| Carderos (Coal Harbour) | On the water, classic, one of my favourites for it's traditional unfussyness. Good cocktails, fair wine pricing. |
| Tableau (Coal Harbour) | French place in the Loden hotel, quieter and easy to get into. They have a separate real martini menu. Elevated dining, price is fair. |
| Tavola (West End) | Sister of Nook, nestled in a cute spot off Denman & Robson if you find yourself in west end and near Stanley Park |
| Bayside Lounge (West End) | Bottom of Davie & Denman in english bay in the hotel. Best kept secret - cheap drinks, dated decor, great views. |
| Homer St. Cafe (Yaletow) | Located in Yaletown if you find yourself there. French inspired, good cocktail list, decent happy hour. Prices are a bit high, quality is there, ambience is nice, staff are ok. |
| The Fountainhead Pub (Davie) | If visiting Davie Street, it's a classic Pub (client). Ok drink selection, food is good quality for a pub, they make most of their own food. Pro tip: just order a bottle of wine and get a patio seat, good for people watching. |
| The Pumpjack (Davie) | Our local gay bar (closest to Woody's). Older demo durning the day, younger in the eve. Can be fun to pop in if you're on Davie |
| La Cerveceria Astilleros (North Vancouver) | If on the north shore check out this brewery, just a short walk from lonsdale |
| DON'T | Notes |
|---|---|
| Bean Around The World | |
| Pur and Simple | Don't be tempted by its proximity |
| Fable Diner | |
| Forecast Coffee | |
| 49th Parallel Coffee | Don't be tempted by the doughnuts |
| Milano Coffee | |
| Steamworks Brewing | Fun fact, the bathouse is also called Steamworks, incase you get confused |
| R&B Brewing | Ok pizza, bad beer |
| Mario's Gelato | Overated. |
| Zarak by Afgan Kitchen | On 5th & Main - terrible, over priced. Oddly pretentious. |
| Cactus Club | You can do better. Joey's also goes without saying. |
| Tap & Barrel | Over priced, grade meh. If you must go, english bay. |
| Craft | If in the olympic village you may be tempted, lead not into temptation. |
| Bodega | Lower main - no |
| Mahony & Sons | Various locations, and in the Waterfront area - not good. |
| Yaletown Brewing | Not great beer or food |
| Per Se (Social Corner) | Opposite homer street cafe in yaletown - they suck. |
| Ophelia | Evil |
| Gitano (Davie) | Evil |
| Score (Davie) | Overrated |
| 1181 (Davie) | Avoid at all costs |
| The Junction (Davie) | Terrible little gay place. |

| Stanley Park Brewing (West End) | Overrated |
| Do | Notes |
|---|---|
| Welks | Up Main Street, great little shop with everything |
| National Standards | Great mens boutique, good prices, always a sale, near Welks |
| Parliament Interiors | Fun to look around, its across the street. Gay? yes. |
| Whole Foods | 10-15 min walk at Cambie |
| Save on foods | If you need grocery items |
| Do | Notes |
|---|---|
| Lynn Canyon | If on north shore |
| North Vancouver | Seabus over to lower lonsdale and explore, walk up for some F&B |
| Main St | Definitely explore the area, see the shops and f&b! |
| Jonathan Rogers Park | Nearby on W8 Avenue near 33acres. Best little park to sit and have a snack, beer, dog and people watch. You can drink openly. Grab some beer, or bring your sushi or ice cream here. |
| Stanley Park & Seawall | |
| False Creek Seawall | |
| Spanish Banks, Jerico Beach, Kits Beach | |
| 3rd Beach | |
| Granville Island | It gets busy, take the water taxi from science world if you must. Get fish & chips. FYI Bridges is Tap & Barrel (see don't list) |
| Barry's | Heard it has a good sound system. Avoid Tyler's class. |
| Davie Street | Always visit the village, its underwhelming but start at Burrard and walk down to English Bay (Denman) |
| Commercial Drive | Worth a walk up and down somewhere that isn't downtown. Pop into shops and grab a snack. |
| Kitsilano | West4th avenue can be an ok stroll, just shops etc. Kits beach is nice, its a good stop on the way to spanish banks and UBC. |
| Fairmont Pacific Rim Lobby Bar or Giovane Cafe | If in the waterfront area, the Giovane cafe located in the Fairmon Pac Rim (cordova side) is a great cafe. If visiting the area later in the day, the lobby bar at the Pac Rim is a "vibe" in this elevated, very Vancouver experience. Expensive cocktails, priceless people watching. |
| Hikes/Various | If you have time for any outdoor adventure, you can't go wrong. The grouse grind is not delicate, its a workout but very doable. Definitely plan if you go anywhere, trails can be quite busy. Dog Mountain is easy as is Quarry Rock. Both fairly quick but feels like you've done something. |
| Don't | Notes |
|---|---|
| Capilano Suspension Bridge | Its $70, go to Lynn Canyon instead |
| Wreck Beach | Bit of a trek, nice view, committment (nude beach) |
| Granville Street | Gross |
| Robson Street | Underwhelming, busy, commercial. They have just recently revitalized the sidewalks. |
| Gastown | Lacking life right now, not really worth it |
Uber is recommended for speedy travel around and into downtown, order a Uber to/from Barney's on Main for easy pickup on Main Street (there is even a taxi pickup area). If you order to E10th there is nowhere for them to park and then there are bikes and people turning - poor planning chaos!
You are between 2 train stations, Broadway / City Hall (Canada Line) and Main Street/Science World (Expo Line). If you need to get into downtown, easiest it to walk West on 10th Avenue towards Cambie Street (towards weed shop) and get on the Canada Line (~10min walk). Get off at Yaletown Roundhouse for Davie Street or Yaletown, get off at City Centre for Granvile Street or Waterfront if going to Waterfront Area. Note this takes you right to the crusie ship terminal.
You can tap-in-and-out with your credit card at the faregates. $3~
Both need to be picked up and dropped off at a locking station. Price isn't great.
Andrew is in town, 902-221-2720. He lives down the hill (5 min away) and is familiar with the building and Vancouver things
